Appears in the Epstein files through an internal SDNY prosecutorial note recording a July 17, 2019 phone call -- days after Epstein's arrest -- from Cohen's attorneys to federal prosecutors. Cohen's lawyers sought a Rule 35 motion (early release for substantial assistance), stating Cohen had ‘heard Trump say things about Epstein’ but would not elaborate.
Prosecutors declined, citing credibility concerns. Cohen also handled at least one legal case involving allegations against both Trump and Epstein (the ‘Katie Johnson’ lawsuit, dismissed in 2016). He repeatedly denied publicly knowing anything about Trump-Epstein connections, contradicting the Rule 35 filing.
