Emails show intimate correspondence: called Epstein "sweetheart," discussed adultery, asked about "naked women" as wallpaper for her 15-year-old son, texted "@boringparty" from royal events, and wrote love-letter-style messages. Stayed at Epstein's Palm Beach estate for multiple days in January 2013. Admitted to Epstein in 2011 that she had googled him and results "didn't look good," continuing the relationship for three more years.
In 2019, publicly stated she "deeply regretted" the contact. The 2026 DOJ release contradicted the palace's account: contact extended to at least 2014, volume far exceeded "a few occasions." The revelations triggered a Storting parliamentary inquiry, a criminal investigation into former PM Jagland, patronage removals, and polling showing only 27% approval as future queen.
