Barbara Walters (1929-2022) was an American broadcast journalist and television personality who spent over five decades at ABC News. She was the first female co-anchor of a network evening news program, created The View in 1997, and hosted the interview series 20/20. She died on December 30, 2022, at age 93.
Walters appears in Epstein's personal address book with three phone numbers listed. The 97-page book, made public through civil litigation in Palm Beach County, contained contact information for hundreds of prominent individuals (EFTA01199174). Released correspondence shows that publicist Peggy Siegal, who organized private film screenings and dinners coordinated with Epstein, placed Walters on multiple guest lists between 2011 and 2014.
A February 2011 email from Siegal to Epstein describes a dinner held at Walters' own home for Woody Allen, attended by Mayor Bloomberg, Piers Morgan, Diana Taylor, Nora Ephron, and others (EFTA01833124). In March 2013, Siegal proposed a dinner guest list to Epstein's assistant that included Walters alongside Brian Williams, Charlie Rose, Woody Allen, Steve Schwarzman, and Leon Black (EFTA01899911). Epstein declined that dinner (EFTA00393815).
In December 2012, Walters appeared on the confirmed guest list for a private Les Miserables screening co-organized by Siegal and Epstein, alongside Katie Couric, Glenn Close, and Clive Davis (EFTA01762318). A separate December 2012 email included Walters on a guest list with Larry Gagosian, Howard Stern, and George Stephanopoulos, with Siegal noting "too many high profile people" were attending (EFTA00400091). In June 2013, Siegal described sitting next to Walters at a Woody Allen screening followed by dinner at Cipriani's (EFTA00389086).
In her posthumous memoir Nobody's Girl (Knopf, October 2025), Virginia Giuffre wrote that Ghislaine Maxwell boasted about her friendship with Walters and other prominent media figures as a means of projecting social legitimacy. Walters is referenced in 113 linked documents across the released case files. No allegations of wrongdoing were made against her in connection with Epstein.
The records place her within New York social and media circles that overlapped with Epstein's network through events organized by Siegal.
