Background

Andrew McAfee is a principal research scientist at the MIT Sloan School of Management and co-author of "The Second Machine Age" (with Erik Brynjolfsson, 2014) and "Machine, Platform, Crowd" (2017). He is referenced in DOJ-released EFTA document EFTA01015086 in email correspondence connected to Epstein's academic network. He is also referenced in EFTA02404571, a January 22, 2015 email in which Ariane de Rothschild describes "sitting in the ‘governors’ board' listening to Mcafee and torn Friedman: they talk too much" — the "torn" is an OCR error for "Tom" (i.e., Tom Friedman, the New York Times columnist), and "Mcafee" in that context is this Andrew McAfee, consistent with his MIT Sloan academic-board role.

Disambiguation: Andrew McAfee is alive and continues at MIT Sloan as of 2026. He is NOT to be confused with the late John McAfee (1945–2021), founder of McAfee antivirus software, who died in Spanish prison custody in June 2021 and has no documented connection to Jeffrey Epstein. John McAfee is not in this database.
