Background

Former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives (2015-2019) and 2012 Republican vice-presidential nominee on the Mitt Romney ticket. Ryan represented Wisconsin's 1st congressional district from 1999 until his retirement in January 2019 and was known as a leading voice on fiscal policy as chairman of the House Budget Committee.

His name appears on the DOJ's 305-name list of government officials and politically exposed persons identified in the Epstein files, transmitted to Congress in a letter signed by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in February 2026. The list identifies individuals whose names appear in the 3.5 million released pages at least once, without specifying the nature or degree of each connection. No reporting has identified a direct personal relationship between Ryan and Epstein.

His inclusion is consistent with many political figures appearing in news clippings, political correspondence, and third-party references within the seized materials.
