Attorney who served as part of Jeffrey Epstein's defense team during his 2019 federal case in the Southern District of New York, after Epstein was arrested on sex trafficking charges in July of that year. Weinberg, a Boston-based partner known for representing defendants in complex federal criminal matters, joined the defense alongside Alan Dershowitz and other counsel. He argued against pre-trial detention, contending Epstein posed no flight risk and that the government's bail proposals were excessive.
Weinberg previously represented other high-profile federal defendants, including cases involving organized crime and white-collar fraud. After Epstein's death in August 2019 while awaiting trial at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, the case was dismissed. Weinberg's name appears across EFTA court filings and case management documents from the 2019 SDNY proceeding.
