Theoretical physicist and former professor at Arizona State University who maintained a close relationship with Jeffrey Epstein for years following Epstein's 2008 sex-offender conviction. Krauss organized a 2006 physics conference in the U.S. Virgin Islands funded by an Epstein foundation and received Epstein funding for academic research.
He publicly defended Epstein after the 2008 conviction. Emails released in 2025 show Krauss corresponded with Epstein for advice on responding to his own sexual misconduct allegations. Krauss also attempted, at Epstein's request, to arrange an introduction between Epstein and podcaster Joe Rogan, who declined.
ASU did not renew Krauss's directorship in 2018 for violating university policy, and Krauss retired in 2019. He appears in more than 60 emails in the released Epstein files.
