Background

Jose Maria Aznar served as Prime Minister of Spain from 1996 to 2004, leading the conservative Partido Popular. After leaving office he joined the international advisory board of News Corporation, co-founded the Friends of Israel Initiative, and became a senior adviser and partner at 8&8 Capital, a private equity firm based in New York. Aznar appears in Epstein's black book with multiple phone numbers, including listings for his NYC office at 8&8 Capital.

His son-in-law Alejandro Agag, founder of Formula E racing, is listed separately in the same book. A September 2015 email from Terry Kafka to Epstein references the Friends of Israel Initiative in connection with Aznar, indicating awareness of Aznar's political network within Epstein's circle. In April 2003, Ghislaine Maxwell organized a dinner event in Madrid attended by King Juan Carlos I.

Tom Pritzker coordinated with Epstein on the arrangements, and Maxwell provided the guest list. The event connected Epstein's network to senior Spanish political and royal figures. Aznar has not been accused of wrongdoing in connection with the Epstein case.
