Background

American software developer who co-founded the MIT Bitcoin Club and MIT Digital Currency Initiative. DOJ-released EFTA emails show first contact with Epstein in June 2014 while a student at MIT. Pitched Epstein on crypto investments including Layer1 Bitcoin mining firm.

Sent Epstein his computer science thesis. Epstein told Rubin ‘I am more than happy to fund things but as I am high profile, it can't be questionable ethics.’ Co-helmed MIT Bitcoin Club with Richard Ni, which used funds from Epstein's $525,000 donation to MIT's Digital Currency Initiative to distribute $100 in BTC to 4,500 MIT undergraduates.
